Service-Learning

Wesleyan students engage in service learning at a local elementary school.

Service-Learning is an educational experience for the mutual benefit of college and community, in which community organizations become co-educators with Kentucky Wesleyan College. Addressing community needs, students apply knowledge and skills learned in academic coursework and through reflection and discourse, students gain a deeper understanding of their personal connection to the local community and the broader world.

What is it?

Service-learning or community engagement, integrates learning and community service. As part of a class or co-curricular project, service-learning uses instruction and reflection to enrich learning, to encourage civic responsibility and to strengthen our community.
